Wirfs was mic'd up for NFL Films , which revealed an on-field conversation with Black about their respective sizes. The discussion went like this:
Wirfs: "No, I mean, you look great. You look like an absolute unit."
Wirfs and Black both played at Iowa, though not together. Wirfs' third and final year at Iowa was 2019, when he was a first-team All-American and won the Big Ten's lineman of the year award. Black's first year at Iowa was 2020, and Wirfs told teammates in the Buccaneers' huddle on Sunday that he visited Iowa after his rookie season in the NFL and met a younger and much smaller Black.
"When I went back to train after my rookie year, he was a freshman. He was not that big," Wirfs said in the Bucs' huddle. "He's, like, doubled in size."
Later, Wirfs complimented Black on his apparel when he attended a recent Iowa game as a spectator, and wondered where men their size can get clothes that fit.
Wirfs: "Where did you get your overalls for the Iowa game?"
Black: "Bro, I just walked into a shop downtown."
Both Wirfs and Black have gained weight while in the league. Wirfs weighed in at 320 pounds at the 2020 Scouting Combine. Black weighed 336 at the 2025 Scouting Combine.
