Jaron "Boots" Ennis has signed a multi-year, seven-fight contract extension with Matchroom, the company announced Tuesday. The deal, which will run through the end of 2029, is expected to total eight figures.
Ennis (36-0, 32 KOs), a two-division unified world champion, is the WBA and WBO super welterweight champion and Uncrowned's No. 8 pound-for-pound boxer . He is expected to return against IBF titleholder Josh Kelly in a three-belt unification planned for January or February 2027. It was also announced Tuesday that Kelly had re-signed with Matchroom.
Ennis, 29, signed his first contract with Matchroom in April 2024. After unifying at 147 pounds against Eimantas Stanionis and firmly establishing himself as the No. 1 welterweight in the world, Ennis moved up to 154 pounds.
Boots earned his career-best win by stopping Xander Zayas in a six-round firefight at Brooklyn's Barclays Center in June. The win gave Ennis a spot on the pound-for-pound list.
The American star is now targeting an undisputed title at 154 pounds, and he is just two wins away from making that a reality. Hearn hopes to make Ennis vs. Kelly in the coming months, with the winner set to face WBC champion Sebastian Fundora in a four-belt unification later in 2027.
"I'm excited for my extended partnership with Matchroom," Ennis said. "Together we have aligned ourselves in all the right positions to get what I want, and that's undisputed!
"The world is about to see why I'm different and why I'm the best fighter in the world! These guys aren't on my level! They can't do what I do! Road to undisputed! Road to the number one pound-for-pound best fighter in the world!"
