Could Callum Turner be the next James Bond? One former 007 approves.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan said all of the actors who have recently been rumored to be in the mix to play the famed spy next "are actors I admire." But he did single one out: Turner, his former costar in the 2017 film "The Only Living Boy in New York."
"Callum Turner is someone I've worked with, and he's so strong," Brosnan said. "They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film. They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men."
Brosnan made clear he does not have any insider info, though, saying he is "just an audience member now" and "just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history."

"Whoever plays the role, I wish him the very best of life and strength and courage," he added. "You know, it's hard to tell who it would be, but I eagerly await to hear the news and the celebration of the next James Bond."
"Dune" filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is directing the next Bond movie, which will see an unknown actor take over the role and succeed Daniel Craig. Craig stepped away from the franchise after 2021's "No Time to Die."
Search for the next James Bond is underway with auditions
Nothing has been confirmed about which actors are being considered, though Turner has long been rumored, and reports have suggested screen tests recently took place.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in June, Turner was tight-lipped about the rumors: "I know as much as you do — really, I know as much as you," he told the outlet. But George Clooney, who worked with Turner on "The Boy in the Boat," wasn't shy about offering his endorsement.
"I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond," Clooney told the Reporter. "I think he would be a great Bond. He's tall and handsome and charming and British, so he's the perfect guy to do it."
